Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Days 1 - 9:
Arrival & Trek to Hillary BC
After landing in Kathmandu for peak briefings, we fly to Tumlingtar to start the journey. We trek through the wild Barun Valley national park, navigating steep terrain and lush rhododendron forests. This remote approach facilitates essential natural acclimatization before reaching the lower Base Camp, situated below the formidable granite mass of Makalu.
Days 10 - 16:
Makalu Base Camp & High Prep
Upon establishing the Advance Base Camp (5,700m), we concentrate on rigging and technical setup. We perform active climbs to the Makalu La to monitor fitness and technical response. Our expert Sherpas lead intensive sessions on steep ice and mixed rock sections, ensuring every member is ready for the high-altitude challenges of the French Couloir.
Days 17 - 45:
Summit Bid & Rotations
The climbing phase includes strategic rotations to Camp 1 (6,300m) and Camp 2 (7,000m). We secure Camp 3 (7,400m) and a final Camp 4 (7,900m) on the Makalu La to launch our attack. Our team tracks precision weather forecasts continuously, allowing for recovery in lower camps before targeting the narrow summit window for a climb of the fifth highest peak.
